The way the violence in Hacksaw Ridge is styled is in direct opposition to the message of the film; unless you think Christianity and faith are supposed to celebrate death and destruction. I get that the film was about a religious man, but it's obviously extremely possible to make a film about a religious person and not make it a preachy film.
